Advice Needed: Does anyone have recommendations for things to do in and around San Juan, PR???

I’m heading to Puerto Rico for hurricane relief efforts, but have a little over two days in San Juan after I’m finished. I definitely want to go to El Yunque and Vieques Island to see the Bioluminescent Bay.

From my research it looks like these will have to be separate days, but will I have the opportunity to do both and see a bit of San Juan?

Does anyone have recommendations for the best way to get to Vieques? I’ve seen by boat, but there’s a bunch of different information of where to drive to/take a taxi to to get to said boat to the island.

If you had one day in San Juan what would you do and where would you stay? Typically I prefer hostels so I can meet people my age.

And lastly, what are some medium to hard trails in El Yunque that give the best views? I’ve definitely heard to see the waterfall, so that’s already on my list.

Any other safety/additional advice is appreciated!!
