Three Trips in 18 Months
I watched a Terrence Malick film back in 2016 and kind of had an existential crisis of sorts. I'd traveled a little when younger (mostly Asia, western Europe, North America), but all travel kind of stopped around 2004. Travel has always made me feel like I was growing, learning, and understanding new things. After the 12 year travel hiatus, I decided to immediately start traveling again. I work a full-time job and am also a university adjunct, so my time is tight. I did manage to get to the follow areas...
2016
- Kyrgyzstan
2017
- Moldova/Transnistria
- Colombia
I spent about a week or so in each place. I know it isn't a long time, but my time is really tight with two jobs. In regards to Kyrgyzstan and Moldova, I wanted to visit places a little off the beaten path. I have a friend living in Colombia, so visiting there wasn't truly a solo trip or off the beaten path, but it was nice to have he and his Peruvian wife show me around. I plan on going to more desolate places this year. Time and money are the limiting factors. I have a few big non-travel-related expenses coming up, so traveling will take a second to these important things. I was thinking more South America or Africa.
