New Zealand tips/general advice
Hey Everyone, I am headed to NZ next Thursday and was just looking to get some opinions on things. I have looked at the destination of the week threads, and the general resources and even gone on the New Zealand subreddit, and was just looking to get some personal experience or stories/advice.
First off, I am headed to the south island for 5 days, and then the north for 4. Is it worth Renting a car in both islands? I was thinking about only renting for the south island.
Second, going on tripadvisor, there are a lot of little experiences you can do, some are only $40-60 while others are 200-500+. Are there any experiences that you would recommend? Especially ones that are CAN'T MISS opportunities while i am in the area? One of the days I am going to head to Hobbiton while on the north island and take a tour but it seems like the south island has a lot more going on? Things like short cruises seem expensive and i don't know if they are worth it or not? The 4-6 hour ones that bring you to different beautiful landscapes, would i just be better off driving around to set locations?
Third, with it being summer, should i take mostly lighter clothes and then one or two sets of layers in case I do any of the slightly larger climbs? I will be hiking a decent amount but I don't have those booked out yet, everywhere says its usually 70-80 degrees around this time of year and a pretty moderate climate.
Thanks for the help in advance! Beyond excited to finally go!
