Koh Lipe, Railay, or Somewhere Else?
Ok fellow solo travelers. I can't make a decision and need your opinions. I will be going to Thailand in April, for the second time. I'll be spending a week in Chiang Mai (fell in love with it last time and there is a lot I still want to check out in that area), and I want to spend my other 5 nights on an island.
I'll be flying into Bangkok and home from Chiang Mai
On my last trip, I visited Koh Lanta and loved it! This time I was thinking Koh Lipe, but I think it might be a little out of the way for only 5 days. Then I thought I could visit Railay instead. Bioluminescent plankton on Tonsai looks awesome, among other things. I could potentially do both if I shave some time off of Chiang Mai, but that pretty much means cutting out Pai.
I just don't know enough about either (internet blog opinions vary) to pull the trigger. What do you think?
Interests
I want some relaxation/recharge time, yoga, laying on the beach, snorkeling, and maybe a day trip or two to nearby islands. I'm also a hobbyist photographer.
I'm 29-F, so while I am not interested in raging frat parties - I definitely want to meet some fun people, have some drinks, and listen to music. I was concerned that maybe the night life on Koh Lipe would be non-existent, while Railay might be too obnoxious.
Ease of travel from Bangkok and to Chiang Mai is also a consideration. I don't want to spend my whole trip in transit.
All suggestions appreciated!
