A small reassurance

So I (like alot of people here) have wanted to travel for awhile and have saved hard to make it a reality.

Yesterday I arrived at a hostel in a small Thai neighbourhood a little way out of Bangkok centre. There didn't seem to be anyone about. I tried to Skype my parents and Skype didn't work. I didn't feel brave enough or in the right headspace to try and communicate with the street vendors. After 30 hours of travel, alone and in a place where I stuck out like a sore thumb I went to a 7-11 and bought stuff I didn't understand and crawled to bed and had a good cry.

If I'm completely honest. I almost booked a flight home that night. (As in the night I arrived, dumb I know). I thought I had made the ultimate mistake by quitting my job. But then I fell asleep.

After almost 12 hours of sleep I woke up this morning and EVERYTHING was different. I was looking forward to the challenge Bangkok would afford me. I decided to navigate the sky train. Not that it's particularly hard but I'm still proud. I ordered food in a small restaurant and it was delishious (though I'm not particularly sure what it was).

As I sit here in a Starbucks (I know I wanted wifi!) I hope that this acts as some kind of reassurance to those who are feeling how I felt last night (tired/lonely/jetlagged). I can't say for sure because it's only my first full day of my trip but I have an inkling that it may just be worth it to push through those feeling and give it a good go.

See you lot on the road!
