Wasn't planning a huge trip, maybe 4-5 days in Los Angeles. Planned on renting my own car and generally visit popular areas like Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, etc. And I'd like to think dealing with New York City pretty frequently, I'm not that clueless when it comes to big city safety, but I can't really tell after researching, what are the safe and non-safe areas of LA? I mean, as long as I avoid downtown LA, am I good? Are there any other female solotravelers who have done a trip like this that can offer advice?
