Where should I travel to April 2018?
Okay so I am currently working like mad at a restaurant and saving my money to explore outside of home next year. I am not new to solo travel, (6 month trip through Europe and Nepal this year) so I am quite comfortable with the beauty, the trouble, and the planning that comes with it. I plan to leave Texas in April. My ending point will be Kleve, Germany around mid September. So I have lots of time. Here are some ideas I have so far:
I want to hike the John Muir Trail in California. However, the earliest I can do this is apparently early June. Wish it was possible to go earlier but hmph. Can't stop snow.
I'm interested in volunteering in Guatemala. Maybe I could do a little spin through 2-3 counties in Central America and come up to CA and start hiking? (I speak Spanish)
The trail requires lots of preparation though. Hm.
SE Asia. Originally (before JMT came into my train of thought) I was just gonna do 3 months of SEA and 3 months of Africa. However, I decided against it because I felt I would be too rushed.
I want to go slow but not too slow. I want to hike a longer thru hike. I want to see some of the states before I leave. I'm planning to start Uni (in Germany) in sept so I'll be away for some time.
I rambled.
tl;dr Solo female in tx wants to see more of North and/or South America before SEA trip and move to Germany.
Any thru hikes recommended for April/May? I like mountains and forests.
Anyone hiked JMT in early June?
Best countries to travel to during April/May?
Tips for SE Asia, Central America, and thru hiking in US welcome!
cheers
