Traveling Europe for 3 months in the spring - any tips or critiques are appreciated!
Hi everyone, I've been lurking on here for a few months and just have to say thanks ahead of time for all the awesome help you give!
I've been saving up money for the better part of 4 years (during my undergrad degree) and the time has finally come for my big trip. I've done a fair amount of research already but nothing compares to first hand experiences. I bought a three month long eurail pass (expensive but worth it for the flexibility) and am taking off for Europe in the beginning of March. I have a general plan for where I want to go (which I'll list at the end) but don't plan on booking much ahead of time. My idea was to do all the research I can so that I can show up and not have to waste time looking things up and know what I might miss if I decide to deviate from the plan. I'll be traveling mainly on my own with a couple visits from friends and family along the way. I'm aiming to keep it to around $100 (Canadian) a day and will mainly be staying in hostels. I'm planning on cooking a fair amount of my own meals but I also can't wait to sample the local cuisine. I love history and am an amateur photographer so I can't wait to explore what Europe has to offer. My potential itinerary is as follows:
London 5-6 days
Edinburgh 3-4 days
Paris (with a couple day trips) 5-6 days
Brussels 1-2 days
Bruges 3 days
The Netherlands 1.5-2 weeks, I'll be traveling around and visiting some family here
Berlin 3-4 days
Warsaw 2-3 days
Krakow 3-4 days
Prague (with day trip to Kutna Hora) 4-5 days
Vienna 3-4 days
Budapest 3-4 days
Hoping to find a cheap flight to
Athens 3-4 days
Greek islands (Santorini, possibly 1-2 others) 5-7 days
Then I can either fly or take a ferry over to Italy
2-3 weeks split between: Naples, Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre, and Venice
1 week in southern France (Nice and Marseille, possibly one other small town/city)
Barcelona 3-4 days
Madrid 3-4 days
At this point I'm just looking for any critiques or advice you may have. I am aware of the 90 day rule so I'll have to keep a count of that as I go. Is there anywhere you loved that I haven't considered? Or are there places/things that you've done that you think you could've done without? As I continue to do research I've just been overwhelmed with the insane amount of things there are to do. Sorry for the long post, and thanks again for all the help! You guys are awesome :)
