Suggestions for my American West road trip.
Some time in late May of 2018 I'll be done with the semester and I want to go on a road trip. I'm saving up plenty of money, and im just picking destinations. I'm not on a time schedule, I'll spend as many days at a certain location as I want.

I have all the attractions I want to see for each location written down already, as well as driving tips and random route plans. Also, i have a ton of hiking and camping gear and i'll spend half of my nights dispersed camping in national forests and BLM land.
I have a couple questions though: Are there other things really worth seeing that are along this route, not too far away?
Should I do this route starting in Badlands, going to Pike's Peak, or vice versa? I'll be a lot more physically active in the Utah/Arizona part of the trip, so i was thinking of saving it for the second half, but doing it this way also means I'm doing Yellowstone first, and that might be the "best" part. Is there a good reason to reverse my current plans?
Anything else worth mentioning that I might not have thought about?
