Hey r/solotravel! I’d greatly appreciate some advice, critiques, and recommendations on my upcoming itinerary! While it did start as one, this is not going to be a solo trip as my best friend has decided to join me! Nonetheless, I figured I’d ask you guys - I love this subreddit and value the opinions of my fellow travelers and lurkers alike.

A bit about us - we are two American women in our mid-twenties. We love to eat delicious food, socialize, hike, visit places of historical significance, gaze upon wicked art, and enjoy local coffee/tea and beers! (Edit to add: I’m very interested in architecture, finding “weird” museums, and seeking out live music).

We typically don’t prefer strict-itinerary travel, but unfortunately this is a pretty short trip (<1 month) so we are aware we will have to operate on a schedule to some extent. We have a fair idea of what this trip will look like in structure, as well as a few things we want to see and do, but have yet to discuss many specifics as we are both pretty busy and live in different states. I put together a loose itinerary with a couple odd things we may want to see here and there. I’m flying out to visit her this weekend, so I’d love to gather some recommendations from r/solotravel to put on the table :)

We are looking for any tips/advice regarding the following:

• Must-eat fare/restaurant and cafe recommendations
• Must-drink beers (where’s the coolest place to grab a beer with a view? Have any nightlife suggestions?)
• Best places outside the city to take in nature and do some day-hikes, preferably accessible by public transport (exceptions: rental car for a few days each in Ireland and France)
• What touristy spots deserve the most attention? Which ones are, in your opinion, “missable”?
• Know any excellent walking tours?
• General tips & advice regarding public transport/accommodations/car rentals/city-specific wisdoms are greatly welcomed!

Finally, here’s what we’ve got so far (apologies in advance as it’s more jotted notes than anything comprehensive, and I’ve left out most “big” touristy stuff in favor of smaller things I’d like opinions on):

Prague, Czech Republic (3 Days) - AirBnb, Hostel One Home - Taste of Prague tour - Saturday morning river market - Strahov monastery - Krtiny Ossuary (is this worth seeing?)

Amsterdam, Netherlands (2.5 days) - Staying with family - Anne Frank House - Electric Ladyland museum of fluorescent art - Micropia - Favorite cafes?

Belgium (4 days) - Hostel Uppelink - Ghent will be our “home base” - Day trip to Bruges (considering a day trip to Antwerp or Brussels as well - thoughts?) - Favorite spots in Ghent? - Any good day hikes outside the city?

Ireland (4.5 days)

Galway (3 days) - AirBnb/rental car for entirety of Galway stay - Cliffs of Moher (day 1) - St. Patrick’s day in Galway (day 2) - Ring of Kerry (day 3) ...We would be heading back to Dublin in the evening - is this feasible if we get an early start? Galway-Kerry-Dublin in one day?

Dublin (1.5 days) - Hostel recommendations welcome! - Guinness storehouse - Trinity library - Pub recommendations?

France (7 days)

Paris (2 days) - I’d love to hear of any lively, food-friendly neighborhoods that might be fun to stay in

Alsace region (~2-3 days) - Rental car to “road trip” from Paris to Lyon, traveling along Alsace region - One night in Strasbourg - Visit Natzweiler-Struthof - One night in Colmar - Day-hike in Vosges Mountains - Possible stop in Annecy on way to Lyon?

Lyon (3 days) - Restaurant/ suggestions, please! - Day trip to Chamonix? Mont Blanc day hikes? - Hostel recommendations for Lyon?
