hey all, so after running into some debit card issues while studying abroad in nepal i decided to take out about 27,000 rupees( ~270 USD) right before i left to go to thailand. now i'm in chiang mai with a bunch of rupees. Turns out you're not supposed to take nepal rupees out of the country and it's pretty much impossible to exchange them for other currency. So hopefully in posting this, some of you may avoid this mistake. anyone have any tips or advice finding someone or some place to exchange rupees? i'll be in northern thailand for another 2 weeks. similarly if you or anyone you know is in chiang mai and heading to nepal - please direct them to this post. i'll certainly offer a good exchange rate. Talk about learning the hard way. whoops!
