Looking for the ideal destinations to learn to surf
To shed a little light on the situation:
Past 2 years I did 2 roadtrips with friends and every trip there were annoyances (Especially our Iceland one). Some only wanted to party, wasted precious time, weren't up for adventure, ... So now I'm 100% sure I want to go on a longer vacation (2-3 weeks) on my own.
I've been on a short 4 day trip to Lisbon/Porto before and handled myself well - eventhough I'm quite introvert (I'm not looking to solve it by solo travelling no worries).
So one of my bucket list items is to learn to surf and after Iceland I'm up for something more exotic next year.
I've got some recommendations but I'm fishing for more ideas and help as to where would be the best place for a beginner to pick up surfing.
Suggestions I got so far:
- Bali
- Honduras
- Nicaragua
- Australia
Australia - for now - is a no go. I basically want to go somewhere with great nature, preferably not too many tourists (though that's not necessary) and well somewhere where I could manage with English.
A destination I would really like to do in my life is Cuba but I'm not entirely sure if that's a good destination for surfing though.
All ideas and tips are welcome!
If you have other cool destinations with stunning nature I'm willing to postpone my surf dream for a while!
