Last minute solo trip to Taiwan
Hey Folks,
I'm a 24 year old decently well-traveled Asian American embarking on my first solo travel to Taiwan Nov 17-26 (hmu if you're around). I'm excited, nervous, scared - all the emotions. I've always wanted to do a solo trip, but never had the guts to pull the trigger. A few days ago, I found super cheap flights from Chicago (where I currently live) that I couldn't pass up.
I'm VERY into outdoors/hiking/nature/adventure, but also enjoy nightlife. Therefore, I'll be spending the first 2/3 of the trip on the east coast and ending with a few days (the weekend) in Taipei.
Let me know what you think of my itinerary so far. Definitely open to suggestions/advice/recommendations. (not constricted by a budget)
Day 1 in Yilan - I'll actually be there 5pm and onward as I land in TPE in the afternoon - Is it worth it to even make a stop here? Or should I just go straight to Hualien? Day 2 in Hualien - to visit the gorge and possibly rent a motorbike around town Day 3-4 in Taitung/Green Island/Dulan area - Green Island worth it? (Fly back to Taipei) Day 5-7 in Taipei - a day trip to Jioufen
Also, if you have recommendations for hostels in the area - looking for lively atmosphere with a decent solo traveler community!
