Budget destinations; South East Asia, Eastern Europe, or any part Africa?
Hey solotravel,
I'm hoping to start my next (x) month long trip to one of these destinations in February or March next year (maybe later if I choose to go to Eastern Europe for warmer weather). By then I should have $3k-$4k in the bank available for travel after plane tickets.
This will be my second solo backpacking type of trip after previously spending April through half of August this year in Ecuador/Peru. The three destinations listed in the title are what I'm considering at the moment. South East Asia and Eastern Europe more so than Africa mostly because I don't know much about that region so if you do let me know! I've been to SEA before, but only to the Philippines to see my cousins, aunts, and uncles in Bohol. Haven't seen much else of the country, but loved it while I was there. Never been to any part of Europe (or africa..) though so I think it would be a whole new experience.
Anyways, a little about me. I generally prefer laying on the beach drinking tequila over walking through beautiful mountainous scenery fighting for every single breath. This is why I'm strongly considering SEA, but I do know there's some wonderful beaches in Greece. I do (kinda sorta on most days) like a challenge. For example, I've done some rigorous hikes before and although I disliked the hiking aspect getting to my destination always made it worth it. Also, I'm from Wisconsin so I can handle the cold. Anyways, in the end the people are always what makes a place so special.
I haven't done extensive research on any of these three regions, especially Africa, but will do in the future. For now I would love to read some experiences and gain some knowledge from other travelers on this sub. Maybe it will persuade me to go to one or the other.
