Why should i travel alone?
Sorry for the length of this post, and a big thank you to anyone who will answer me with their thoughts about it.
A few hours ago I was talking with my GF, who's about to go to Spain for about ten days, alone. She asked me to go with her but my job situation didn't allow me to book in time. Now I've got tons of free time (I'm a freelance), and strange enough, enough money to travel for a couple of weeks, but I can't picture myself traveling alone.
I could go to Paris, which is not very far nor very expensive to where I am, but what for? Eiffel tower, Notredame and Louvre? Maybe it's because I'm pretty much ignorant about architecture, history and art, but those monuments just don't feel appealing to me, not one bit. Same is true for any city I can think of.
I'll admit that, e.g., Eiffel tower is unique, and so are the Louvre and any other cathedral/museum/monument around the world, but usually millions of tourist visit those places every year, and they see what I'd see and experience the same I'd experience, more or less the same.
When talking, with friends, about travels, their anecdotes about those places would be the same as mine. I want to live the city, breathe it, meet people and tell my own anecdotes, something ONLY I could tell, my own experience in Paris. Or London. Or Toronto. Or Kiev. Wherever.
Travel only to go where everyone else goes, do what everyone else does and see what everyone else sees..doesn't feel worth it.
I hope I've been able to show you my point of view, I don't have it clear in my mind myself either.
