Is my plan to Shanghai OK with Transit Without Visa (TWOV)?
Hey y'all,
I'm about to go traveling to Seoul and Shanghai or a week and, like a dunce, I didn't realize that I would probably need a visa to visit Shanghai. But looking into I'm wondering if I could use the 72 hour TWOV and not need a tourist visa.
My itinerary is:
LAX > Seoul (3 days) > Shanghai PVG (land around noon Sunday) > depart from PVG back to LAX Wednesday evening
I can't find anything online that outlines my exact scenario, but this seems the easiest to understand for me: http://ift.tt/29a0wV6
But what I read here and others talk about having a visa to the 3rd country you're visiting or kinda sounds like just another country you're visiting, not where you're from.
I'm wondering if my plan fits the requirements because technically I'm flying from Seoul, to Shanghai, and then to LA, but on the other hand, I'm flying back to my origin.
I'm also wondering if this is OK with the 72 hour visa and not have to go for the 144 hour one. I think the process is the same either way, but I'm hoping someone with experience can offer some guidance here.
If anyone can offer any tips on this process or give me their own experience, that would be awesome. Or am I just boned at this point and have to cancel my China leg or figure something else out.
Thanks!
