I'm breaking up with my boyfriend and want to buy a one way ticket to NZ

I'm 27, female and am above to break up with my cockwomble of a boyfriend of 3 years (see post history). I'm obviously going through a small breakdown right now so I won't be buying a ticket any time soon, but I'd like some advice for when I do so I can start planning. Before I met my boyfriend I was saving to move to Australia on a work holiday visa, so it's something I wanted to do for a long time and planned to do once my boyfriend had finished uni.
I'd settled on wanting to move to New Zealand for a year or two for a while. I'm very outdoorsy, there seems to be every geography and everyone I know who has been has highly recommended.
So first things first, my main issue is how to get my life towards New Zealand in gear. I own a flat (owe around £7k - small inheritance so bought outright with a small loan). My flat is lovely but needs a few bits doing but I should be able to fix easily enough. I have watched too much Nightmare Tenants, Slum Landlords and so have a huge fear of bad tenants. How do I find good ones? Should I just sell my flat? I mean if I never comes back I can imagine it'd be a nightmare to sort out long term. What do I do with all my stuff? I have a lot of stuff but don't want to sell it. I should be able to save up but it'll take a while, maybe 6 months or so.
Where should I go first? Obviously I want to give the whole hostel thing a go. What's being on a work visa like, how's the jobs market? I'm s business analyst but would do anything. Should I go somewhere else? I don't want to go somewhere full of 18 year olds in big groups just wanting to party and smash pasties.
And lastly has anyone else travelled solo while heartbroken? Any tips?
