[Hawaii] Itinerary check/opinions
Preface
Going to Hawaii for about 4 days with a few friends, in the beginning of November. We are staying on Oahu. It's for a birthday, otherwise, we probably would've, most definitely not have gone.
A single person attempted to plan out the trip, from activities to food, which was really nice of her.
Itinerary
On our itinerary, there are basically 3 main activities we will do, one per day.
- Skydiving (Link here) $165ish
- ATV tour/ride (this is supposed to like take us on a slow-moving, 2-hour tour through tourist attractions, old movie-shooting areas like Jurassic Park, etc. (Link Here) $140-$150ish
- Snorkeling Tour? (this is a 7 hour ordeal, starting at 5:30am...includes a 2 hour boat ride, and a 2 hour snorkeling session, with an included lunch. Supposed to be able to "see and play with dolphins", which is what enticed all the girls coming in my group...sounds like hard advertisement to me tbh) (Link Here) $150-170ish
Problems
Now I know things in Hawaii are expensive, but I am curious about the snorkeling and ATV bit.
I have heard from friends who have gone there more than once, that there are places you can snorkel for free, and still find the same kind of sealife you would find on these "snorkel tours". Sure, maybe there aren't any dolphins, but what are the chances of us encountering dolphins in November anyways?
Also, for the ATV tour...it takes you through some beautiful-looking terrain, but is this something that you think is worth? Can't I just hike up a trail or something to find these kinds of views?
Questions
I hate to be "that" guy, but I'm just trying to save us some money, if possible. I know like 30% of the group doesn't want to spend this much money (activites + food + lodging = roughly $1000+).
-
Instead of the ATV tour, which seems really slow, albeit visually awesome, according to Youtube videos, what do you think about replacing this with perhaps jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, other water-related activites, etc?
-
Instead of paying for this snorkeling tour, are there other great snorkeling spots where we can see cool sealife (this seems to be the selling point for the ladies of my group)? Please give me your thoughts on this.
-
If you have any suggestions on nightlife, or anything cool/worth checking or doing, please throw it out there so I can do some research on it!
Conclusion/TL;DR
In the end, some of our group (most, including myself) want to save money (which is redundant, since we're going to Hawaii in the first place), and want to figure out the best way how.
Thanks for your input!
