Cliche Asia - do I go for just the South east? Or include the north too?
So I graduate next year and I'm planning a 5-6 month (at least maybe more, finance dependant) trip abroad to Asia. A place a lot of travellers are going these days, and of course, a dream. I initially wanted to include parts of South America too but logistically it just doesn't seem viable for the same trip.
Anyways, I'm in the slow and early stages only itinerary development and I'm wondering: do I keep to the South east? Or should I venture north?
I've been looking at 'best times to visit' and that being said, this would be the slightly odd loop I would take during a run from august to January or february:
1) start off in Indonesia
2) work my way upwards via Vietnam
3) work my way up through China to Beijing (I would spend a large bulk of my time in China, but no way enough to see all of it)
4) South Korea (cheeky trip into the north..? Lol)
5) Japan for a bit
6) Taiwan Hong Kong and the eastern coast of China
7) cross over to the Philippines maybe and then down into western Malaysia
8) work my way up through Thailand and criss crossing Thailand Cambodia and Laos
Of course this leads to a rather weird in and out loop and I'm not sure if I'm doing the classic of trying to do too much in one trip?
This will be my second solo trip after Italy in 2016, but also my longest trip I've ever done and the furthest from home (UK)
I'm also not sure on how long to stay in each country for apart from a long time in China. But This is something I'll be looking into once I've got a full idea of how the route would take place. But in terms of rough estimates- Indonesia in August, China in October, Malaysia for new year and then the last month or two around Thailand
