14 Day New Zealand Honeymoon (advice needed!)

Hey all, my wife and I are going on our honeymoon to New Zealand in mid January for 14 days. From what I've read (including the awesome NZ guide in the sidebar), it seems like most of the action is in the south Island.

A little bit about my wife and I... - We like hiking, but more "day hikers" and not "overnight hikers". - We like to try adventurous activities (bungee jumping sounds ridiculous and fun), but we aren't adrenaline seekers. - We are both fairly well-traveled. - We love eating in interesting restaurants - We ideally would like a balance between town and nature, with probably a little more emphasis on town.

With that in mind, do any of you have suggestions for a rough itinerary/focal suggestions of things we should do? An overall outline would be incredible.
