Warm & Affordable Destinations via Paris in March?
I scored a cheap error fare to Paris from March 2-13, but I've been a number of times before so I'm not interested in staying in the city. I'm also coming from Edmonton, Canada so I would really like to visit somewhere warm/hot as an escape from our 8 month winter season.
In addition to nice weather(minimum 10 degrees), I would like to visit somewhere close to water(swimming would be amazing), with great historical architecture and food. I'm open to renting a car and doing a roadtrip (Highlands, Italy?), but I think if I do that I'd like to sleep in the car and not freeze to death. I would like to keep my budget under $800. Also, as I'm a woman traveling solo, I would like to minimize my risk of being harassed.
Morocco seems like the obvious choice, but I have heard nothing good from women who've traveled there solo. I also considered Egypt, but direct flights are nearly $600 and I don't think 10 days is enough to spend there. Am I missing good, warm, and relatively cheap location in Southern Europe? Is going somewhere warm in March a pipe dream? Am I wrong about Morocco?? Could I do Cairo and the Nile in 10 days?
