Upcoming Germany trip planned, flying out of Miami... What are my options?
We have a trip to Germany planned in about 10 days, flying out of Miami... What are my options if the airport gets shut down besides cancelation? Would we be able to change plans through another airport? If so, would there be additional charges given the new airport even if they waive change fees like most airlines are doing for upcoming flights?
We're coming from Atlanta. It's not a true layover in Miami since we booked the round trip "direct" flights into/out of Miami through Eurowings. Then we booked RT flights from Atlanta to Miami through Delta. We're supposed to leave 9/17. Looks like both airlines are waiving change fees through like 9/12 but I expect they'll extend it as the hurricane's path become more definite and as they can get an idea of damage.
My first thought is to change flights through NYC or Boston as soon as they extend the waiver through our travel date, but I'm not sure if what the downside will be doing that. Any help is appreciated!
