Two weeks into a planned ten week trip, I have a stubborn cold that rest and water doesn't seem to help. When should I see a doctor, or should I just go home?

I got sick after visiting Capri, and I have no idea if it's the cold water or the massive amounts of tourists that's the issue. Since then, I've been coughing (sorry, dorm roomies) and sniffling and have been feeling generally shit. I stayed in a private room the first three-four days, only leaving bed to go buy water and some food, in the hopes that it would pass, but it just won't.

I'm not terribly ill, it's just a drawn out cold that doesn't seem to want to pass. I'm going to Rome today and it sucks that I won't be feeling well enough to explore the city and experience the night life. I also feel real sorry for my dorm roomies (already booked the room before I got sick and they don't have any private rooms free...) because I cough through the nights.

What should I do? I'm supposed to get on a plane to Barcelona after Rome and flying when you're sick is just the worst idea ever, I honestly feel so defeated right now. I have a little emergency budget of course that I could use for something, but it would suck to use it to get a private room in Rome of all places to yet again just stay in bed.
