Travelling By Plane Within Europe - Time Affect Pricing?
Hi,
I have never traveled alone and am planning to travel to Europe in about 1 month for around 10 - 14 days (departing from Canada). My plan is to go to a few major cities (possibly Rome, Athens, Madrid, Lisbon) with the intention of staying in each for a few days.
I have been looking at flights and was wondering if I should book my flights WITHIN Europe prior to beginning the trip or if it's possible to book them when I am there. The reason I ask this is that I would prefer to have the flexibility of possibly staying in a city for an extra night or two. The issue is, if I book a flight right now, say between Rome and Athens (for mid October) it is less than 100 Euros. I did some testing booking some flights For Sept 8th or 9th (tomorrow or the day after) to Athens from Rome and I am seeing the price jump to around $300.
So, is it best practice to book all flights in advance with hard dates at the cost of having no flexibility to stay in a city for a bit longer, or are booking flights once you're in Europe for next day travel as cheap as they are booking over a month in advance in Canada?
Thanks :)
