Hey guys

I'm flying into Recife (Brazil) on 12th January. I'm planning to do around 6 months in South America and then 6 months in South East Asia. Things may change - but that's a vague plan at the moment.

I am looking to do some countries that are regarded as expensive in South America as well as some cheaper ones : - Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia

I'm time rich and money poor so I can really take my time. I have £21,000/$28,000 in total for both South America and South East Asia. I've already booked my initial flights out to brazil, got my jabs done and also my travel insurance booked.

I'm looking to take local transport and not be afraid of longer journeys, stay in basic accommodation and I also don't drink or party.

I'm just wondering, to those who backpacked South America on a low budget, how many did it all cost you?
