Spend more on a flight, or more on the destination?
hey guys! i'm looking to travel somewhere in december, around christmas and nye time (i know, most expensive time to travel). anyways, i'm trying to decide between portugal (would try to do trip lisbon to porto depending on time/budget/what my friend also wants to do), spain (barcelona or madrid), or paris (+day trips). i know they are very different destinations, but all places i've wanted to go. i've got about 8-10 days, and am looking for walking to get around cities and towns, good food, some nice outdoor attractions, and good nightlife/lots of stuff to do. i also want to do some day trips, so i'm not limited to just these cities.
anyways, i've done some budgeting stuff, looked at average airbnb and hostel costs, what normal food prices would be, and attraction costs. i know paris is probably more expensive food, travel and attraction wise. the flight's to paris would be cheapest but not by that much (i'm on a student budget, however).
so basically my question is, should i spend more money on the flight but have less travel costs while at the destination, or save about $100 on flights and spend a bit more on the destination? i know the decision eventually comes down to what i want to spend, just wanting some advice from people who have been in the same situation! thank you!
