I'm heading to Europe solo this January and plan on getting a few days in at some resorts in Austria/Germany. I'm flying into Paris and have not booked any accommodations. I am thinking of flying straight to another city while spending no time in Paris. I hear Munich is a good jumping point to many quality resorts so I have considering making that the first major stop.

First- which are the best resorts in Austria/ Germany? I am looking for a nice blend of culture, nightlife/partying, accessibility, and of course quality skiing. I am also thinking of steering clear of Switzerland because I hear it is ridiculously expensive.

Second- I'm traveling solo (I may have a friend or two meet me but it's not given at this point) so I'm looking for ski buddies.
