Rome and Amalfi... some advice?
Hey all,
Solo 30yo male here. Thinking of doing a trip to Italy at the start of October. My idea was to fly in/out of Rome, do about 3 days in Rome itself, and also a few days down south near the Amalfi Coast. I'm particularly keen to get out and about and do some walks/hikes.
A few questions:
-
What places should be booked in advance in Rome, to avoid queues?
-
If checking out the Vatican, is there a particular tour that I should do?
Outside of Rome, there are a few ideas I have - I would like to visit Capri, I would like to visit Mt.Vesuvius/Pompeii, and I definitely want to hike the Path of the Gods from Bomerano to Positano.
-
What's a good base (or bases) to cover these different activities?
-
I'd like to hike up Monte Solaro on Capri, and check out the surrounding area on foot. Would this be possible on a day trip, or would I be better to overnight on Capri and go at my own pace?
-
Are there any other hikes/walks of interest in the general area, especially ones that might show off some autumn colours?
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
