Planning to go to Australia with working holiday visa, is it a good idea after a break-up?
Hello
I(23M) have never been to any solo trips. I have been only travelling with my family and/or with my ex-gf (usually 2 trips per year). We were together for almost 6 years and 2 months ago we broke up(in the end she dumped me and I have been heartbroken ever since). We had a plan to go to AU together for a year, but now I'm planning to go alone.
I was planning to go at the end of October but now I'm having second thoughts. I guess I just need somebody to talk me into it or out of it. I know this is my life and my decision. I really think that I should go but it seems a little bit scary. I have finished college and I'm working as a software developer at a medium-sized company.
I'm afraid that if I quit my job, come back and I can't find a new job. On the other hand I know that I have a college degree and 1,5 years of experience in my field so it shouldn't be a problem but I still think about it. Also I'm afraid that I'll get lonely but I know that it's all up to me to socialize and meet new friends. Still I think that if I ever want to go on an adventure like this, now is the time. I'm just confused at the moment.
My plan was to go meet an old classmate in Brisbane, stay with him for a few weeks until I find a job(probably in a farm) and then go solo. After working for 4-5 months and saving money I was planning to go to SE Asia to backpack for about 2 months. I want to rediscover myself after such a long relationship and find happiness again. After that I think I would just have to see if I want to go back to AU or back home.
Does somebody have any recommendations for me? Should I go through with this? I have already been granted a working holiday visa so I have already made the first step but it is still a little bit scary. I'm used to my comfort zone and that's bad I guess.
