One week road trip - CA/NV/UT(?)/AZ
Hey everyone! I recently posted about a west coast road trip and after reviewing some information regarding closed routes in the winter (trip taking place in Feb), we decided to rethink the locations. Before planning out the trip entirely as we previously did, I figured I'd see if anyone had any information or insight on the new plan.
We decided to change the states from WA/OR/CA to CA/NV/UT/AZ. The current plan is to fly into San Francisco and loop out to Nevada, then Utah (Utah can totally be scrapped if needed), then Arizona, and back into Cali via I-10 (we really want to hit Joshua Tree) to leave through Los Angeles.
The immediate questions I have for the trip are:
- Is one week (could throw in another day or two) enough to catch the sights through the 3-4 states?
- For two people (M+F) who aren't into cities or busy areas (such as Las Vegas), what nature sights/routes would be recommended in the 3-4 states?
- Ghost towns! We would really love to visit some ghost towns that haven't been repurposed for tourism (though we'll take it if they're nice to visit). Anyone have recommendations for ghost towns?
- Would a budget of ~$2k (we can do $4k but we'd rather save money if possible, of course) be sufficient if we were to hit cheap hotels and B&B's? Budget would mainly be gas and food and I have a connect for cheap rental.
Thanks in advanced!
