Newly single and planning my first solo Europe trip in June, give me tips!
Long-time listener, first time poster. So I will start out with the plan as I see it now, it is still tentative obviously but I'm fairly comfortable with the time frames, costs, and length of time spent in each city. The first leg through Ireland, Amsterdam, and Hannover is pretty much set, but after that I can improvise more. Plans and budget for Ireland have not been included yet because I will likely be spending time with a friend there and will not have much in the way of expenses.
Okay let's start with the itinerary/budget, I've overestimated just about everything except for the flight prices which I'm considering booking now to lock in the prices:
Tentative Itinerary (3 weeks, Jun 2 – 24) Travel Time Price
DC to Dublin June 2, arrive in Dublin by evening 9 hr $500
Dublin/Ireland 5 nights Saturday June 2nd – Wednesday June 6th • Will likely be staying with friends, so shouldn’t have much lodging or travel expense
Dublin to Amsterdam by plane 2hr $100
Amsterdam 4 nights Thursday June 7th – Sunday June 10th • Bulldog Hostel or Meinenger Hostel, 4 nights $200
Amsterdam to Hannover by train 6 hr $30
Hannover 2 nights Monday June 11th - Tuesday June 12th • Bed n Budget – City Hostel, 2 nights $50
Hannover to Berlin by train 3 hr $30
Berlin 5 nights Wednesday June 13th – Sunday June 17th • Pfefferbett Hostel or One80 Hostel, 5 nights $200 • Could also do an AirBNB for Fri and Sat to recharge and get some privacy
Berlin to Prague by train 5 hr $40
Prague 2 nights Monday June 18th – Tuesday June 19th
• Art Hole Hostel, 2 nights $40
Prague to Budapest by train (book tickets there) 9 hr $100
Budapest 4 nights Wednesday June 20th – Saturday June 23nd • Carpe Noctem Vita hostel or Adagio Hostel, 4 nights $80
Budapest to DC - June 24th 11 hr $500
Food Drinks Entertainment 75 x 22 day $1650 Travel Insurance $120 Emergency Fund $300
Total 45 hrs $3940
Okay please help me out guys this is my first big solo trip and I want to do it right, I expect to come in under budget because I am fairly frugal and will be cooking and couch-surfing whenever possible. Any advice or criticism is welcome!
