Need Help Planning a Road Trip to the Grand Canyon
I am planning a family road trip for this upcoming summer (2018) to the Grand Canyon. It will be my mother’s 60th Birthday and my sisters’ 25th birthday and my Wedding anniversary. This summer is a very special for all of us. Now I have an abysmal track record when it comes to planning vacations, and I would love it (as would my family) if I didn’t screw the pooch this time; which is why I am planning many months in advance. Hopefully, some of you can help me figure some things out that I may not have considered. Let’s get a couple of important details out first.
Destination- The Grand Canyon
Number Of People – 5 (maybe 6)
Time frame – 14 Days, July 8-22
We will be flying in from the east coast (Philly born and bred!)
Additional info:
our family would love to avoid hotels if possible and just rent an RV.
In those 14 days, we would like to visit Las Vegas, Phoenix, and any other highly recommended locations/destinations.
We don’t have a super strict budget, but we are trying to stay under 5k for everything (including rentals, accommodations, food, and gas). $6,000 MAX.
My family is not the "camping type,” but we do love to be outside admiring the beauty of nature.
We also love to eat. Many of our trips are food tours designed around great culinary experiences. "Great culinary experiences" =/= fine dining.
We like tourist attractions and fun things to do and try.
Local festivals, carnivals, or other themed attractions are a huge +!
What is the best way to visit everywhere we want to visit while staying under budget? Are there any recommendations for a first time RV renter? What do I need to watch out for? How can I make this trip special? Thank you!
