Looking for ideas for location for a family beach vacation that includes 4 or 5 families with young children (1-10) and possibly a few unmarried adults. The plan: find a nice rental house that we can all stay at in a kid friendly beachy area. Lounge around the pool/beach, eat great food, maybe short day trips for hiking, etc. Looking at June, July, or August. Needs: Not too far from an airport (1-2 hours at most), East Coast or Great Lakes area Already under consideration: Maine coast, Kiawah or similar in SC

Would love other suggestions, specific ideas for where to look at in the Great Lakes, and when in the summer you think they would be best to visit. Thank you!
