Looking for travel recommendations for Asian cities
My wife and I are looking to take a trip this autumn. We are from the USA and would be looking to travel mid November of this year. Last summer we took our first trip to Asia for our honeymoon. My wife is Korean-American (adopted in the 80s and unfortunately does not speak Korean) but had never visited South Korea prior to our trip. We visited Seoul for a few days and then took the train to Busan for another few days. From there we flew to Japan and spent time in Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. We were initially to go back to SK and Japan for a shorter visit, but it looks like we unfortunately missed the window for cheaper/affordable flights. They have nearly doubled in the past two weeks.
Outside of hoping and praying for flight costs to go back down, I had the idea of looking at other cities in Asia to visit. I figured that maybe we could still snag a good deal on flights to another destination if SK and Japan would no longer be options. I've heard great things about Taipei. Is it pretty "travel friendly" for westerners? When we travel we like to stay out late eating and drinking (night markets, street food, bars/pubs etc.) We are huge foodies. During the day we like to explore the cultural sites of the countries/cities we visit. We love the asian mass-transit systems and we also cover a lot of ground on foot, usually 13-15 miles per day.
So what would your thoughts be on Taipei? Anywhere else you would suggest? I've heard great things about Singapore as well. Should we just keep searching for affordable airfare to South Korea and Japan?
