Introvert on first solo trip. Need visa/personal help!
Hey everyone,
I've been given a pretty good opportunity in my current role after been given the green light by my boss to travel and work remotely (I'm a web developer) and with the freedom of setting my own hours and working as little or as much as I want for a year.
My dream has always been to do this around Canada so I'm definitely taking it up!
I have a few questions that are both visa/travel related and more personal ones.
First up, since I will be earning Australian dollars into my bank account from my work, would I only need a regular visitor visa and if so, can i leave and re-enter so I'm able to stay for a year? Or would it be better to apply for a working visa for two years, then have the option if I wanted to pick up any work at snowfields for extra $$ or bar work and have everything sorted for that amount of time?
I'm thinking about Vancouver for at least my initial landing spot but would love to hear any suggestions for others? My only requirements would be reliable internet - also Vanc lines up decently with Aus time with 9am here being 4pm Vancouver, leaving me with mornings to explore and work afternoons.
More on a personal level, I am a bit of an introvert and whilst I'm more than happy to meet people I find taking that first step quite hard and don't find myself as the most out-going person.. I'm kinda hoping this trip brings me out of my shell but I'm terrified I will go over there and struggle with this. I worry I won't be able to make new friends there, get home sick and want to come back. I have lived out of home before and can take care of myself fine but it's all the other things I worry about.
I would love some advice by anyone that has to offer it! I'm all ears! Thanks
