How Do You Enjoy Nightlife While Traveling Solo?
Typing this as I'm sitting in my crappy cubicle... My biggest regret before graduating college was not studying abroad. I hate myself for it as I am 24 and 6 months into my career and all I can think about is not taking the opportunity to travel before I started my career. I'm already planning for my first eurotrip when I decide to quit which will probably be in April 2018. I never intended on staying with my first job for long, just long enough for me to get a head start on paying off my student loans while saving enough money to move out and do my long overdue eurotrip before I move onto my next job. Music has always been an outlet for me and an integral part of my life. I enjoy going to concerts/festivals more than anything and part of the reason why I want to go to Europe is to experience the music/nightlife scene, so my only issue at this point is being able to find the "right" people that will want to go and will want to experience the same settings as me. I have a great group of friends that all love attending shows/festivals with me but they're all at different points in their lives and I'm not banking on them to make this trip with me. I'm at a point where I'm sick of waiting on others to see if they can travel with me. Life's too short to sit around and wait for others to commit with you. I love the underground music scene (House/Techno) but not many of my friends are into that genre of music and I'm the type of person that would rather go to a show solo than take someone that isn't into the same music, cause if they aren't having a good time then I would feel at fault for taking them and would be too worried about them not having a good time. So I'm sort of in this dilemma where I know I could do the trip solo but it would feel really lonely showing up to the clubs by myself. Also, I'm of Asian heritage but grew up in America all my life so I'm also a little concerned about just not "fitting in" with the rest of the crowd if I do go out and experience nightlife by myself. It's such a pathetic reason I know, but it's a personal issue that's given me self-doubt at times in my life when being out and meeting others. So for the people that have traveled solo, what are some tips you have for going out and experiencing nightlife while solo?
