Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "The Sun Also Rises" paint an extraordinary picture of Spain. What are books that do the same for other places?
I hope I am asking this question correctly, it feels kinda wonky.
I will be going to London, Bath, Paris, Belgium, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen in February. I am looking for books that do the same for these places as the ones mentioned in the title of this post do for Spain. For example, I have never been to England, but I plan to read Pillars of the Earth to give myself some context of the history of the country.
