Getting around in Canada
Hello, I and my wife will be going to Canada during the Christmas/New Year's holiday season. We are looking at staying for around 4 days or possibly extending to a full week. We will be flying into the Toronto airport (YYZ) and will be for sure heading to the Niagara Falls area from there. I would like to know if any of you can suggest methods of getting around once we arrive. Mostly, I would like to see more of Canada besides the Toronto and Niagara Falls areas (e.g. Montreal, Quebec). Are there any ways for a tourist to get around other than rental car? I have looked into the train system, but that seems somewhat pricey. Although I am thinking that we could rent a car at the airport to get to Niagara Falls, I would not like to use a rental car as my primary method of transport, because I have no experience driving in the snow or on icy roads. I would imagine that public transportation(buses) and taxi(uber) would be similar to the US on a local level, so that could also be an option. Please let me know of any suggestions both for getting around locally and getting to other provinces. Finally, I would love to get some suggestions about some interesting things to do on my vacation if anyone would like to share.
