For those who have rented an RV/van and wen't on a road trip by themselves how did it end up going?

I'm just wondering how it would be since I've been thinking about renting a van or small rv for 2-3 weeks. I've been thinking this since I'm going to be going to Australia for 6 months by myself and thought this would be a cool way to explore and discover Australia. Just wondering what the experience was like and if it'll be worth it in the end.
