I'm going to be out of work for a couple of weeks before I start my new role at the end of October. I thought that this would be a good time to go abroad for a bit.

I'm looking to take a solo holiday, as I don't have any friends to go with. I have no idea what people do alone on holidays. I hear that a lot of solo people travel on interail and stay in hostels with other people, but I'm not sure that I could deal that. I'm a bit anxious, so I'm not sure that I'd be able to get along with strangers at dorms.

I have no particular preference as to where I want to go, but I'd like it to be somewhere interesting that has a lot of sightseeing opportunities. Would like to spend less than £1000.
