First solo trip to Sri Lanka and India
Hello guys, been browsing this forum for a while but this is my first post. I'm 20 years old and from Sydney, Australia. I've travelled Australia extensively (multiple 2-3 Month road trips). However I've never left my country and am very overwhelmed but excited!
So I fly to Sri Lanka on the 20th of November, will stay there till 18th of December, and then will fly from negombo, Sri Lanka into Delhi, India.
Basically I'm just not sure on a few things and would like them clarified, below is the check list I have at the moment, if anything needs to be added that would be great.
- Flights are booked (a return flight home isn't, not sure when I'd like to come back from India yet).
- Get travel insurance (probably just going to go with world nomads.... Seems the best for a backpacker??)
- Get vaccines/immunisations (will go to my doctor for this who knows my vaccine history and will just tell them length of time going and where?)
- Get a visa for Sri Lanka (30 day evisa) get visa for India (60 day evisa). The visa's are where I'm most confused, do I get them a few days before leaving because they are activated on the day upon entry of the country?
- Book accomodation for a few days for when I first fly into negombo, Sri Lanka (just gonna book an air bnb, something closeish to the airport).
Apart from a first point of accomodation being booked, I literally have no plans and that's the way I want it to be. It's how I've travelled in the past (albeit in my own country). Am I forgetting anything I have to do before I leave in November? Any advice or personal experience greatly appreciated!
