DO IT!
You can survive there on a much lower budget than you thought, and it is the most ridiculously beautiful place I've ever visited. Every EU traveller sees the Eiffel Tower, not many see the fjords.
Specifically, the train Oslo-Bergen is known as one of the most stunning rides in the world.
If you are willing to cut back a few luxuries, you can see Sweden/Norway for super cheap and have an amazing time. I made a video with a bunch of tips about this here but essentially:
- Reject attractions: The great outdoors is insanely and uniquely beautiful in this part of the world, and has no gatekeeper.
- Cook for yourself: Meals across EU can be expensive. Don't even think about it in Scandinavia though. Most budget guides recommend "value" restaurants, but to really be able to afford it, just silence the curious foodie in you for a little while.
- Get a free prepaid card: Don't screw yourself over by paying commission on each of the unique currencies in Scandinavia
Sorry this isn't the usual single-picture post, was going to add a photo to advertise this part of Europe better but honestly just seeing it is the best feeling.
