25/M/US October-January solo travel to SEAsia or Europe?

Im a 25 y/o guy from the US and just quit my job and looking to go on my first solo excursion. I've done a ton of reading on /solotravel and you people are amazing - but I could only find a post 2 years ago about this topic.

I plan on having a loose itinerary but I love being social so I want to travel around hostels and meet young people my age who are down to link up for an adventure and party. I would love to backpack Europe, but I've heard mid October to end of November tends to be "dead season" for solo travel. Is this true? A friend told me that Southeast Asia would be great for travel during this period of time and I would encounter a TON of young Europeans/Australians/people in general and make life long friends on the journey.

I plan on buying my plane ticket sometime this week and would love any input on which option I should consider for October-January or beyond.... Europe or SEAsia?
