Yellow fever vaccination, yay or nay?
I'm going on a 4 week trip to South America. It's mostly for work, as I'll be working the tour of a big band; but I'll have some good free time to get weird.
I'll be in Ecuador, child, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. Of note: only in major cities and never near the Amazon or any other rainforest. I've only been to Sao Paolo a couple of years ago, so I'll be visiting lots of new places.
I received a crew email that stated clearly: while not mandatory, yellow fever vaccination is HIGHLY recommended.
I'm not really worried about getting YF as much as I am having a country tell me that I'm not allowed in without the yellow card. When I went to Brazil, I came from Budapest. So an uninfected area. Thus, no asking for a yellow card.
Anyone have experience traveling throughout South America? Were you ever asked for proof of vaccination at borders? Were you ever denied entry?
I really feel like skipping this process. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
