Travelling Overseas for the first time ever in 12 days, for a period of 3 months

Hello r/travel.

I am not much of a reddit user and as you can tell not much of traveller either, though I thought that it was necessary to create a post for some input. I will be travelling with my girlfriend with our first flight flying from Montreal - Lyon, France. We're both very interested in art, architecture, and immersing ourselves in some of the local culture. Personally I'd like to see some local festivals, artists, musicians, etc. I'm looking for any venue/location/tourist sight recommendations in any cities mentioned, stops along the way, or any alternate routes which you may suggest! I'm going to try and keep it updated along the way.

I also am curious about the possibilities of camping along my route. I have camped a decent amount in my life, though my girlfriend is not and she is a bit nervous. Is there any animals that I should be weary of? And I understand in some places it is not permitted to have a fire. Any tips for first time camping in Europe?

Starting off, we have an airbnb for 3 nights in Lyon. Mainly looking to see the musee des beaux arts, the botanical garden, some of the night life, but if you have any recommendations please go ahead!

Next we are taking a bus to Annecy and spending a night or two there, then hitchhiking or taking a cheap bus to Geneva. I'd like to hitchhike so we could stop at Mount Salève.

So far, we don't know how long we'd like to stay in Geneva, but we're thinking from Geneva to Paris next. I see a nice little path down through the Jura National Park, and Saint-Cergue, but it doesn't seem like an ideal route to take. Of course we'll be trying to minimize costs, so if you have any input on my trip itinerary please let me know!

Note: I am not much of a planner, I just kind of wing it - my girlfriend however is the exact opposite! So this whole trip is a bit of an oddity for me.
