Thailand: 60 day visa, or two 30's?
Planning a trip to Thailand (U.S. Citizen) and realizing 30 days won't be enough to see all that I want at a comfortable pace.
My main question for those who have visited; do you think it would be best to do 60 continuous days, or 30 days in the South, head off to Cambodia/Vietnam/Laos, and re-enter to do 30 days in the North?
My thoughts are: the things I want to do in the South might take more like 40-45 days with the North only taking 15-20. Also, if I just visit once on 60 days I only have to change money once... my only worry is that I am not sure if I can re-enter on a 30 day visa if I choose the 60 day option... for example I do 60 days, then go off to the aforementioned eastern countries and have to return to Bangkok to fly to other countries (Myanmar, Indonesia, U.S.). Some of the things I have read lead me to believe if I visit after my 60 day visa within a short period of time (2 months) that I will not be able to leave the airport on a 30 day "free" visa.
I have done some research but everything I'm reading seems to say either or, and nothing mentions doing a 60 day visa followed by a 30 day visa within a couple months, making me think re-entry and 30 day visa runs is the best way to go.
