Sulawesi in 2 weeks
Hey Travel!
I'm heading towards the end of my trip to Indonesia, covered Sumatra, Java, Bali, Gilis, and about to head toward komodo.
I had my heart set on doing Flores and Sulawesi but due to too much faffing on Gili T I'm just going to go to Sulawesi for the final 2 weeks.
After doing a bit of research I'm wondering if 2 weeks is still too short. I was originally going to do Manado to Makassar, but the days don't align for the boat service to Togian without chewing up a lot of time. But also, the journey from Tana Toraja to Ampana seems like a killer I'd like to avoid.
It looks like by the time I've spent 2 or 3 days in Toraja I'll be on day 6 by the time I get to Ampana.
To those who have been Sulawesi, are the Togian worth going to? If you went back with 2 weeks, where are the must sees and what could you drop? Is Sulawesi worth the ball ache to travel for 2 weeks? Might Flores be a better plan?
I'm a 28yo male, travelling alone, love trekking, landscapes, done a bit of scuba diving, picked up a reasonable amount of functional indonesian, a loose budget of around 30gbp (~40usd) a day. Love going off the beaten track but would like to meet some other travellers along the way.
Will potentially be arriving in Sulawesi on Sept 4th (after a visa run), haven't booked flights yet but dates essentially inflexible. Fly home from KL on the 20th. Loved Sumatra, even though that was also a total ball ache to travel.
Thanks!
