Planning a 14 day Central American Adventure, where should I start/finish?
I'm currently trying to plan a 2 week solo trip to Central America. I want to see as much as I can for as little money as possible.
I think I want to start in Mexico City, or somewhere in Yucatan (If Cancun is the cheapest/most reliable option I'll go there as well), and then move South into Belize, Perhaps visit Guatemala City and then down into Honduras and possibly Nicaragua, if time allows.
I need some advice as far as transportation goes to avoid costly airfare. Is there an option for public transport (buses, etc.) or would I need to rely on hitchhiking? (not desirable but I can make it work).
I have about 3 Grand, minus airfare. I figure about once the airfare is covered and I save another ~$1000 I should be able to fund the whole trip.
Should I plan to stay in hotels or will I be able to find other decent sleeping situations (not above hostels)?
I plan to leave sometime in 2018, likely next Fall. So let's say Mid-September.
