I'm going on my first real road trip! Portland Oregon > Columbus Ohio
Hi! My fiance and I decided to go back to his hometown in Ohio (we're both from the US)... and we're going by car! I've never been on a trip like this before and am a bit overwhelmed but also extremely excited. We don't have a time frame we need to conform to and we've saved up a comfortable amount for the trip.
Sightseeing is a must, yummy food is a bonus. We're also bringing a tent incase we end up wanting to camp somewhere. I had a few questions I was hoping somebody could help me out with/any general road trip tips you guys have picked up would be awesome.
We can't seem to decide which route to take. One option is the northern one (Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota....) or the other idea is to start by going south (Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska....).
For those who have adventured that way before, which way sounds like a better idea? Are there any other routes you guys would recommend? And what are some must see places along the way?
Any insight about the whole situation super appreciated! I'm a travel noob for sure.
