First-time car trip, I'm driving from Dallas to California and need advices
I am from Mexico, so the only experience I've had with car trips are from watching movies. Having said that, I would like for advices on my first car trip.
I am driving from Dallas to California with my wife. On the way I plan to stop in Gallup and Las Vegas. On the way back I plan to stop in Flagstaff and Amarillo.
I plan to spend a day or two in the following places to see:
-
Las Vegas: Vegas Strip
-
California: The beach
-
Flagstaff: The Grand Canyon
Does anyone has any advice for my trip? Also some place that is worth seeing on the way there or back?
Also is there anything I should be aware of during my trip? I have a Dallas Driver License and car insurance with StateFarm. I also got a dash cam in case of an accident.
I plan to take my car to have it checked by a mechanic. My car didn't come with a spare tire so I already bought one, although technically I have 24/7 road assistance.
I got a spare phone to get coverage from a different company in case of an emergency, my main mobile has T-Mobile coverage and the spare phone has AT&T coverage.
I will carry at least a gallon of water in the car at all times. I also plan to bring some snacks for the road.
Please provide your advice, no matter how obvious you think it is. This is the first time I plan to drive this far so it worries me I might overlook something.
All help/advise is appreciated. Thank you.
